But the VA's sound just fine, I don't see an issue with that.
Another issue I have with the game is the characters themselves are just not great. Tevi is cute and her annoying father is fun, but everyone else sorta just sucks.

So which is it? is the CG objectively bad because it is its own thing that adopts elements from both Western (and imo, in particular European) comics and Eastern manga, and "obviously" this can only be hideous as only pure unadultered manga-style is good, or is it "subjectively bad" because you just don't like the style, which is very much a "you" problem and not a problem with the art itself ?
On art it's fine. Sprites are cute. Honestly people have too hard of a allergic reaction to "western" stylizing on colors and whatnot. Only thing is that portraits need more shading and that's about it. Besides that, character designs are better here than on Rabi-Ribi. Half of those designs are partly why I couldn't even get people to play it, but I should be able to here. Significantly less anime cringe.
With all that said... How are people expecting the UI to be as colorful as RBRB? It was very clear from earlier trailers that the story/scenarios was going to be darker in comparison to RBRB's "Uh... there's a weird phenomena FIGHT" story writing. There were at some points it got good, provided you can read through that.... very special translation it had. Although they mostly recovered that in the DLC. Either way, the UI matches the tone like how RBRB's UI matched its tone. I'm cool with what they're going for. Keep in mind, I'm not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on RBRB's story either, I enjoyed the clown fiesta for what it was, but like... Lets be real here, it wasn't exactly anything engaging, it was just very silly. Which matched the tone of the game.
The only thing I can say is that games/movies should try to be more colorful sometimes. There's been a lot of muddying of colors recently so everything looks very muted. But that's not really a gripe with this game in particular, that's a gripe with media in general.
Also you can do that, it has its own volume setting. Or at least I think that's what it does, I didn't touch it because why would I want to do that?
I will say though, thankfully they don't play /all the time/. Shoutouts to inti creates most recent games.
I never thought RWBY looked even remotely good, but I guess that explains the wild shift on artstyle and the poster cameo in tevi's room.
The pixel art is really good. But the image art is, I dunno. Not bad. It's not bad art. But I just don't care for the designs. The color and shading is very flat. I dunno.
Tevi being human was a really dumb idea though. That one actually upsets me.
That's craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy.
it's not like several years passed between each game or this one has a whole other aesthetic thing going for it.
