If I own DLC, can people without the DLC still join me and play?

I have the Deluxe edition of Fae Farm that came with the Coasts of Croatia DLC. I'm thinking about getting my wife a standard copy of the game too so we can play together, but idk how someone who doesn't own the DLC playing with someone who does works.

Can she can play along using the standard edition in my world that has the DLC, or does she also need the DLC too in order to join my world and allow us to play the game together?

I believe the developers said somewhere that DLCs follow the host player, so in your case, if you host the game your wife would be able to use the DLC content, but if your wife hosts the game neither of you would see the DLC content. However, I can't find where that was said at the moment, so it may not be accurate.

Thanks! We'll give the standard edition a shot and see what happens, worst case we'll refund it and upgrade her copy to the deluxe

Finally got to try this myself, can confirm the DLC follows the host. Got my wife the standard version and she joined me no problem, we both can see and go to the new frog area 👍🏻

To further test this, when she hosts that DLC area disappears, but I'm okay with that. I'll just be the host whenever we play it
