I'm also currently playing my time at sandrock, and I think I like them both equally, but for different reasons. Fae Farm, is more aimed at the farming aspect and not building, which I'm enjoying.
I hope that helps, I've never been that good at reviewing things!
The story is forgettable and a short 30-40 hours. The people are lifeless and boring and there's no reason to have relationships. The game is a collection game in my opinion. You "collect" everything for your almanac. Time doesn't pause when decorating so that gets old fast. I gave up around the 100 hour mark as I was sick of trying to get the job achievement for 20 different colored animals and the impossible task of getting every flower type. If you like boring repetition, then yeah.. Go ahead. Also plan on watching a lot of Youtube videos to figure out everything the game won't tell you. Did I get my money's worth? Yeah, dollar to play time I guess. Lost all excitement for any DLC, of which two are planned for next year. I am glad I didn't pay the $60 or $70 price and only got the basic.
This game is full of bugs, crashes, baffling decisions, and not a ton of support post-launch.
Even today there was a 336MB patch and we have no idea what it did. A patch that size has to have done something impactful so do the devs just not care??
I feel like the bones of a really good game are here. But this a a full release not early access. So, with no idea what the devs plan to do and when, and the game needing a lot of love at this point, I simply cannot recommend it to anyone.
If they follow through and get it where it needs to be then sure. But so far, there aren't really any signs of that.
Play Stardew, Rune Factory, Coral Island - there are lots of other choices that are FAR superior to this, at this point in time.
