I feel there shouldn't have been any relationship at all in the game at that point
Just to be very clear, I'm not against relationships in farming game or anything. I think that in 90% of games they are pointless because severely undevercooked and very predictable but whatever.

The problem in that in Fae Farm the characters have so few unique dialog lines that frankly there is no point in having any relationship with them. Romance is the least realistic thing imaginable. It's basically 5 monologues about their backstory that could work in a small text box. Character A likes B, comes from C background and is scared of D, the end.

My husband does nothing, talks to me like we barely just met.

I think the game would have been better off without any relationship and putting efforts elsewhere (job quests for instance are a cute way to spend time and a good progression for the genre imho).

And I get that you are sort of forced to have relationships, calendars and everything in that type of game or you have a massive outcry because players can't be bothered having game being different from one another. But the relationships are so superficial and undercooked in Fae Farm it's more painful to endure them than anything. Whenever I see a friendship quest popping up I'm just rolling my eyes because they are objectively a waste of resource and time invested for 0 benefit. I'd rather max my friendship just by interacting with townies daily and that's it. They already have nothing interesting to say anyway.

Solid criticism. Hopefully they fix this quickly as adding in a little more written dialog should be fairly easy if they are interested in improving this.

Dating and marying different partners was one of my favorite things in stardew. All of the characters had unique and interesting things you'd learn about them and it was so fun to get the events. They felt special.
Penny and Victor were our favorites.

Best of all was when I was playing co-op with my wife she would get super jealous of the dates lol.

Sadly it looks like that major aspect is missing here. I hope they fix it!

Honestly I don't mind if there's none of it. It's just that having it in the game but basically being empty feels wrong. Either do it right or don't do it at all imho.

The game tries to be too many things at once and fail at a few things quite a bit. Ranching and Relationships are the two worst offenders I feel.

Ranching with the hitbox / prompt is terrible i can agree. They should cancel the "pet/brush" option once the animal already received the desired actions.

Also if you pet you have to move away from the animal and come back to it to quickly have the prompt again to brush it.

That plus the fact that barns are tied to houses and you can't even swap them around. It feels like Super Nintendo limitations on a 2023 game it's mind boggling. I really don't get why Ranching had to be so limited for seemingly no reason. I would have almost preferred to buy an object to place that is a trapped animal or something like you buy a big fence with the animal. I don't know, but the current implementation is not fun and very buggy.

Those pets rushing to you while for example watering the crops/flowers is BEYOND annoying. I tried to build several fences but they just dart through no matter what. This is so annoying because it just costs so much time which is also way to limited with no timestop while crafting/building/in the houses or sorting the storage.... Made me rage quit once last night because 4 pets kept rushing me again and again while watering/trying to tend to my crops ;(

Yeah the fact that FENCES don't keep animals away is honestly hilarious. And the funniest is that NPCs bug like crazy with fences when you get married to one.
