The idea is that you start planting a few and then you don't pick them up and they will naturally spread new flowers overtime in your soil. It's used both to combine flowers to create new colors and also to plant more flowers without using too many seeds.
The other huge difference with vegetables is that you don't need to replanth flowers over and overs like most vegetables and they work all year round whereas vegetables (even non seasonal ones) need to be replanted every season no matter what.
Basically I would consider flowers as decorative elements for the most part that can also be harvested to make quick money if you need to.
If you leave the grid they snap back where you picked them up. Taking hybrid flower plants to other farms is impossible now, and i need the flowers out of animal reach, as now, they are annoyingly asking for attention, the fences wont keep the animals away, and the game day cycle is supershort to be wasting time. The flower plants should be able to be put in the inventory, like the rest of the plants.
Also with a lot of flowers planted, the method you speak of turns into a nightmarish jigsaw puzzle.
Definitely feel that not being able to buy the seeds, having to play with the hybridisation, is a nice little addition but feel once you have the plant should be able to make it into a seed or get it as a flower in a little pot so you can store and move ones you don't want. Only option right now is to just leave them sitting there taking up space (which if you want to keep even just 1 of each type is like 72 squares just to store one of each) or delete them and try to recreate them again if needed.
Not sure how many recipes around the farm may eventually need them but seems like they are needed for all the customised wing designs and maybe to buy some of the dye pallets as well. Beyond that think they are just meant to look pretty (wish there was options on how to display them at least).
Have begun this process and already have a bunch of the hybrids, problem I'm facing is once you have made the hybrid though that's it, they just sit there taking up space. No option to pot and store them, turn them into seeds. Given there is 6 different flower types and 12 different colours for each if you want to keep 1 of each that's 72 spaces on your farm just for them, very quickly getting silly if you want to keep 2-3 in case they are needed for something. Even worse if you want them on any other farm area have to create the hybrids again there...
Exactly this, I love the idea and was having fun with it until I realised can't move them, store them or even (main thing I expected) put them in a little pot and use them as decoration inside and outside the house :/
Worked out how to move them early but given there is 72 different types of flowers, and only 6 you can buy as seeds, was expecting to be able to store them instead of having to just destroy them or leave them out taking up space
