I bought a new animal but took it to the wrong barn. I ran out of time and the day ended with it still not in a stall. The next morning it was gone and I am unable to buy a new one.

Animals that are lost without being registered are kept temporarily at the place where they were purchased.

Lunen and Spriggan →Between Temael and Reyglow

It is on a straw bed.
When approached, the message "Follow Me" appears.

It's really weird that this happens and nothing in the game mentions it. I was on an early quest where I needed to register my first chickoo and couldn't continue because it had locked me into that part of the quest despite the fact the day had ended and I no longer had my chickoo.

They should make Earline at least mention this to people if it happens.
