Magic pickaxe attack

how does this work? There must be a trick or a key for this, but I haven't found out what it might be. I am stuck on the main quest like because of this. Nothing has triggered in a dozen mining runs, so ... must be some knack to it.

I'm on controller setup so idk if that helps, but you need to press the Y button on it and you will see an AOE effect where are the rocks will be hit, you need some stamina for it tho.

Edit: I checked the keyboard bindings and it says it's F

Well I just ran a search and found the same info. On the PC I had to experiment, and eventually found that hitting 'F' lets you select an area to hit with the pickaxe. That advanced my main storyline quest, so, nice! They should've dropped a hint some place, really.

When upgrading the tools, if you hover over the iron upgrade, the game does tell you button for it. You can also find the information in the tools section of the almanac. But yes, it's 'F' on a keyboard and 'Y' on controller by default.

Hello, if you play with Mouse and Keyboard go with the Mouse on the Ore that you want to grind, then press and hold "F" until the skill triggers.
