What does any season mean to you?
I have played every farm sim I can get my hands on. I fail to recall one of them killing my plants after season change if they're described as growing in "any season" or 2/3 consecutive seasons. Weird choice, y'all.

I don't recall Stardew having seeds that said "grows in any season" in the description. They are seasonal. It isn't the same seeds every month. My game could be bugged. After I posted this, I got a letter that said something like "new crops like [some other crop] but it is the same 3 crops I started with.

Yeah, definitely think that should have been worded better. I think its necessary for them to wither because endless plants from 9 seeds indefinitely for something like beans might be a little OP. Do wonder if it has anything to do with how the every season crop is what's used to make the new seasonal crops too. That said if that's how it works really should have read "planted any season but dies at end of each season, because weather change from what used to or something I guess, I'm not a botanist dude" or similar so people get a heads up and don't plant crops that won't mature in the remaining time at least.

I had the same issues with this as well. I planted potatoes and as soon as the season changed destroyed my entire field of potatoes.

I understand why, sort of. A head's up would have been nice. Without any information, we couldn't know that the crops were going to wither every season when it just says grows in any.

I thought it strange as well, I was happy to see the any season tag for the seeds and shocked when all my crops died.

The notification this happens is a bit hidden, I found it on the calendar. The last day of the month had a note that said to harvest all crops, anything left dies. It could be much clearer for sure, I almost made the same mistake and bought a ton of crops with the "any season" tag, decided to wait it out instead. Has to do with the different method of accessing other crops too, through a special fertilizer.

I did eventually see the reasoning. I just wish it was more obvious, ya know? Very much makes it seem like the crops will just grow whenever. Definitely missed the calander thing. The relationships are so simple and quests generally clear. I never check the calander except to open in and clear the exclamation mark. Oops

Yeah the way they are handling crops is not intuitive. Like you cannot purchase seeds from any other seasons besides spring and year round crops die every season.

But then flowers just grow forever in any season lol. It's a weird fusion of real-life and farming sim genre conventions.
