Fallout 3 crashes very often

Ok, i know i may get no solutions for my problem, but still... At least it can help me blow some steam (no pun intended)
So, i bought this game years ago, played a lot on windows xp, had some issues but nothing too complicated.
I wanted to play it again, now on winows 8.1 and oh surprise! The game has so many many many problems... i already installed patches, fixes, read many guides, pray to the new and old gods and nothing!

It doesn't crash at start.

I can play it, but still crashes every 5 minutes, Sometimes at random and simple things like:
Going from first to third person.
Try to run.
Try to walk.
Standing still.
Going into VATS animation.
Going into lockpick animation.
Try to use the book for special at the begining.
Blinking (ok, maybe not that one, but still!)


Funny enough, the game runs a little more estable now that i installed some mods.

I don't understand how big companies like Bethesda won't realize this great game is not optimized for new O.S. They should put out an official patch or fix, i mean... i already pay money for this game and i can't use it? NO.

I am having a similar issue; I can play anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minutes before it crahes, and the scenarios in which i crash are never the same (as in the event i am doing when it crashes). I have done a fresh install, changed the ".ini" files to apply only 2 CPU cores for the game, tried it with and without the "Unoffical patch", diabled GFWL, ran it administrative mode, ran it in Win XP compatibility mode, restarted my system, closed all non essential background programs... I am at a complete loss here. And I know my system is more than capable for running this game. (Also to clarify in case you missed the hint, I have the GFWL version).

Yeah, same here. I tried everything (i think) editing the .ini, installed fixer, disabled GFWL, did the compatibility thing, installed patches. And i know my laptop can run it, when i play i have no lag or perfomance issues.
What i notice is that the game crashes a lot when i go into the VATS animation, either at the begining or at the end when the bodies are "flying". And everytime i try to lockpick, the screen starts flickering and it crashes to desktop.
I tried with the "vanilla" version of fallout, with the DLC, with mods, and without them and still crashes a lot. Too bad Bethesda and Steam don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about our problems. We pay hard earn money for this game but can not play it, how is that fair? We should be able to play it without having to go trough all this problems, why do WE have to do all this? this is the developers fault, they should fix it!
I'm really mad right now, and frustrated, i want to play this great game, and it's not my fault it doesn't work on windows 8.1 ¬¬
