(GoG) Freeze in Megaton's Water Processing Plant
Hi

Everytime I enter the water processing plant in Megaton, the game freezes and forces me to log out of windows or restart the pc. 1st time it froze right away last time it took about 20 sec.
I contacted Gog but I'm not sure how they'll respond so I'm asking everyone.

Im using Windows 10 64 and bought the game on Gog because everyone says that it works perfectly fine... I just hope it's not a compatibility issue.

EDIT: Well actually it's worse than I though it was. I tried an old save from steam and the freeze occurs exaclty at the same place, inside the water processing plant. I even uninstalled the Gog version and reinstalled the steam version and it does exactly the same thing.

go to your file explorer and do everything that i put in quotation marks (" ")

"Go to your file explorer"

"Click on my documents"

"Open up Fallout3"

"click on the document FALLOUT"

"press CTRL-F and type bUseThreadedAI"

"Change the =0 to a =1"

"hit enter and put iNumHWThreads=2"

"Save"

this should work i had the same issue

You saved my life (yes, my life) but not because you gave me a fix, because you made me realise that I was a jerk. The 2 lines were already there from... before... but the iNum said 20 and not 2...
So thank you.
Now I just have to fight with somekind of stutter when moving around, especially indoor. You wouldn't have a fix for that , would you? Perhaps, make me realise that I'm jerk a second time :)

In conclusion, for those still fighting with this game:

1-buy it from gog if you still can't get it to work on steam
2-don't bother downloading gwl or anything, just open the ini and modify insert the 2 lines from above: bUseThreadedAI=1 and iNumHWThreads=2
3-if you get some kind of weird stuttering, don't download the nexus mod, it probably isn't related to the same issue, reopen the ini and change iFPSClamp=0 to =60 (if your fps is stable, that's it - if fps is NOT stable modify also this: iPresentInterval=1)
4- FOR THOSE HAVING ACCELERATION MOUSE ISSUE, under [control] in the ini file paste this:
fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0
fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0
fForegroundMouseBase=0
fForegroundMouseMult=0

After 2 years of intense fighting, I finally can play Fallout 3 and for now it looks perfect.
I'll let you know if I encounter some other problem.
