Yes, Bethesda recently updated the game so it runs on newer systems without the Games for Windows live feature. However if you are running any mods at all, for example FOSE (You should 110% be using FOSE if you are playing F3 modern day) then you will have to downgrade the game in order for essential mods to work, all mods can be located on Nexus. If you need a hand with links on how to downgrade or for FOSE give me a message and I'll help you out!

if i may ask why exactly FOSE is needed? because i dont exactly plan on modding but if its stability mods i understand why that would be good to have lmao

It’s a script extender, just helps the overall balance and smoothness of the game even if you don’t plan on using anything but stability based mods

I can't get the steam fps counter to show up, alt tab doesn't work, and there is a lip sync bug where all the audio finishes after their lips have stopped moving. I'm only using a few mods: command extender, updated unofficial patch, NVAC, Out of Memory Fix, IStewieAI's Tweaks, and OneTweak. Basically vanilla and these are just for stability/quality of life only. I'm using MO2 and I have the tiny load order correct according to the mod page. About to give up on this game which is a shame because I was enjoying the intro but the lip syncing issue just took me right out of it.

thats understandable but a little advice and stupid as this sounds try playing the game vanilla and see if that helps for example in fallout new vegas i only had stability mods and it crashed a ton turned them all off and in an hour or something of playing i got zero crashes

Using MO2 I've narrowed it down and found the problem causing the lip sync and the alt tab issue - IStewieAI Tweaks is causing these somehow. Problem is there when the mod is activated and gone when it's not. No idea how that mod could be causing it, I'll look into the config settings to see if I activated something I shouldn't... Too bad because one feature of the mod lets you auto move while using left and right keys, which is really a must have feature for me.

But still no clue why I can't enable the FPS counter.

Edit: in case this helps anyone, I am able to run Stewie's mod without lipsync problem if I set this to 0 instead of 1:

; fixes the 59hz microstutter bug
bTickFix = 0

And I got rid of the alt tab problem by changing this setting from 1 to 0:

; remove the black loading screen when loading an interior cell, and prevent actors being faded in
bNoInteriorBlackLoadingScreen = 0

I'd highly recommend capping your frame rate on F3 or FNV to a max of 60fps, physics are tied to the frame rate so anything over 60 can cause major issues with the game.

Also, please for the love of god do not alt tab when playing an older Bethesda game, they are not designed for it and i'd say roughly 80% of the time they crash the second you alt tab. Just make sure you are 'in the zone' to play an older BGS game and everything should run fine :) :steamhappy:
