How do I do the long whip attack?

When I'm using whip,sometime the character jumps a bit and attack with whip in a long and straight line.How do I do this?

Is all based on timing.
1 click to raise your whip.
Based on the whip location, you press again , you attack.

On certain position the whip do insane damage

I like the whip early on, but in later levels it's too slow for me.

Sometimes we need to use fast melee to interrupt enemy action.
Whip is not suitable for that.
However it excel in long range and big damage hit
