Playing Renegade in 2024 online

In order to play the game online in 2024 downloading the Tiberian Technologies community patch is a must

This also adds widescreen compatibility as well as many other features such as an in game downloader for mods and maps. It also vastly improves modding support.

Edit: There is currently an issue with not being able to move when joining online, this has to do with an incorrect regkey, TerrorTowers explains how to fix it below.

So, this day has finally came... 22 years later. I thought this game will not be on Steam because Westwood is gone

if you're having issues with rubberbanding and being unable to move in multiplayer games with this, ideally you should check your registry key for NetUpdateRate is set correctly.

1. open regedit
2. navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Westwood\Renegade\Networking\Options
3. double click NetUpdateRate in this list
4. if it is currently 0 - set the value data field to 4b (if Base is set to Hexadecimal, if it's set to decimal, just type 75)

this will set the update rate to 75, which a couple of community modders in W3DHUB reckoned was the best rate to set.

Ingame: Hit F8(or tilde key ~), then type: nur 30 -or- nur 75 hit ENTER. See if that's quicker for you.
