Command & Conquer™ Tiberian Sun™ and Firestorm™

Command & Conquer™ Tiberian Sun™ and Firestorm™

Im basically skirmish l2p and struggling
I never had the opportunity to play this in my country, i have years of c&c experience with c&c1, and red alert 1 on the ps1, and years of experience with c&c3 and kanes wrath as well as red alert 3 and uprising and general zero hour.

I basically somehow skipped c&c2 and red alert 2.

Anyway, im just an hour in, AI is set to 0, assuming thats easy for learning. Im facing 1 nod ai. And somehow they just keep launching missiles from the other side of the world. They instantly burn whole squads of mine, and teleport buildings or tanks or something into my base.

It's like they have long range siege and teleportation.

Maybe i should just do the campaign instead. zZzZz

Nod has subterranean units that burrow into the middle of your base.
You can counter that with pavement.

Yeah the AI loves bombing you with super weapons and hunter seekers.

If you want to make it easier you can turn down the tech level to 9, which disables super weapons and hunter seekers.

EDIT
Forgot to add that you can deploy sensors to see where a subterranean unit is going to popup.

i mean, campaign is usally serves as big tutorial for RTS games. even if they dont always explain everything, you learn something new step by step

Not to mention, the manual is included in the game install folder.

Recently got the collection - started playing... AI does inherently have "cheats". They know where your base(s) is/(are) at, including unit positions, and some other things you can figure out by experience when playing. That means they can use super weapons to attack without scouting your base area, including air units if you don't put up SAMs; And as you've experienced, subterranean units were sent to places that (probably) haven't been scouted. They will make their non combat units counter maneuver when ever they see combat units approaching or moving through their path. They're not smart and are very limited in what they do, so besides that, there's usually a counter unit or counter play.

There are many things to learn while playing, but that's just some of the main things to know when starting out playing against AI.

An example of AI Cheating from a skirmish I just played in Tiberian Sun (not Firestorm): Green Nod's base was dwindling down after the MCV Base was down and was denied access to Tiberium harvesting. The AI didn't have a Temple of Nod, but did have a Missile Silo, and somehow let out a Hunter Seeker Missile instead instead of a Cluster Missile when he sold the silo; of which, Cluster Missile requires refining of Tiberium, and the AI did not have any Tiberium Refinery(s) since it sold 1 and the other was destroyed. In the end the AI had 2 War Factories left, and built 2 vehicles (Tick Tanks) simultaneously, which isn't allowed for the player. AI really has their own rules, I suppose.

you mean chemical missiles?

cluster missile only needs a missile silo active. so are you saying they had hunter seekers or cluster missiles? because i'd get it if the AI was cheating because they had seekers without a temple of Nod. but not if they had cluster missiles instead.

Or did you mean they launched a chemical missile instead without the waste facility?

additionally chemical missiles are made with the waste facility and weed eaters, Tiberium Refineries don't factor into it.

I striked through the part that was wrong. But a Hunter Seeker was shot out of a Missile Silo when it was sold by the AI. The AI didn't have a Temple of Nod to set off a Hunter Seeker. lol

The annoying part is stealth is useless against their superweapons. They can target your important buildings even under a stealth generator and for some reason, they always prioritise Ion cannons to shoot your stealth tanks, which makes it easy to know they can see stealth when targeting their supes.

If you are GDI; Wolverines eat through infantry, The Mammoth will desimate a good chunk of the NOD base, The Disrupters eat through armor quick on vehicles and the rocket hovercraft [forgot the name of them] double as SAM sites

the skirmish ai in all these old C&C games i find can be pretty easily beaten by just making tanks. Be they the light/Medium/Heavy tanks from the originals, the Tick tank/Titan from TIb Sun, or Rhino/Grizzly/Lasher from Ra2. the Ai does cheat with things like extra money and map hacks but the skirmish ai still needs its tech structures to do things. So if you snipe their construction yard and war factory then they basically are dead.
