Command & Conquer™ Tiberian Sun™ and Firestorm™

CTD
Getting crashes to desktop in the middle of missions. Anyone else?

I should add, no messages or anything, just a straight crash to desktop.

I had it happen once during the second mission which was disappointing but minor. If it becomes a regular occurrence then I'll be annoyed. I can't say much else being ATM I've only been playing the game around 2 hours I believe.
Mine seems to be at a specific spot, first nod campaign, the mission where you first get tick tanks.

My crash was GDI mission 2

I've had 2 crashes so far when i haven't saved for a while, no idea how to fix.

I do. I forgot to update this thread. Are you playing at a high resolution? See the thread linked below, and see if "tspatch.exe" works for you -- it did for me.

Just had a CTD a little over 10 minutes into my first skirmish, literally as I was about to get my first good peep at the enemies base. Concerning. Didn't have problems like this with the freeware version.

I'm sure like many others I bought this purely for the convenience of having it downloadable from my steam library but obviously this won't be the version I'll be using or recommending if this persists.

Consistently crashing in the Final Confrontation mission, the last vanilla game GDI mission. I killed the western base, timer reset, having about 25 minutes and I'm sieging the south eastern base.
€ Had to do a full mission reset. Looks like something happened that wasn't supposed to. Anyway, got the GDI campaign done and with it, Tiberian Sun.

Are you guys adjusting the resolution or anything at all?

All I did was change the resolution to 800x600, the largest that can be done out of the box via the in-game menu. I have not relaunched since my first crash so I can't confirm if my problem is consistent. I'll wait until I have more to go off before I go tampering with files.

Well i can tell you using unmodded resolution will still give you crashes. And I lost like 5 hours of gameplay and havent wanted to open the game since.

Probably the laser / ion / disruptor effect crash. The game has some serious bugs with glow and ripple effects crossing over the bottom edge of your viewport.

The aforementioned tspatch indeed fixes those.

A larger viewport probably makes the crashes happen less, since on larger resolutions you're more likely to have the battle action happen on the center of your screen, without it touching that problematic bottom edge.

Figured it out. the higher resolution you play the smaller it makes your screen. they didnt add any resolutions. they just made it more unplayable if you try to use them. but no matter what you do the videos still fit to screen like theyre supposed to cause whoever messed with resolutions and didnt know what they were doing (you can tell as theres 50 of each one.)
didnt mess with the videos (thank god) the rest of the updates im sure are needed. Tod Howard would be proud.

increasing the resolution doesn't make the game look better, you are basically zooming the play screen out the higher you put it.

Its normal behaviour for games like these (old AOE1 and 2, RA2 etc), increasing the resolution does help to a certain point, but anything past that makes it look like ants depending on the game.
