Command & Conquer™ Tiberian Sun™ and Firestorm™

Command & Conquer™ Tiberian Sun™ and Firestorm™

I recommend this Fan Patch.
As most of you noticed, the game's cutscene framerate is not of best quality, being very choppy. The mouse speed is also a little bit too fast for me. I found that if you install this patch for Tiberium Dawn from CnCNet you can get the game running the same way as I remembered it. The steps are:

1. Go to https://cncnet.org/tiberian-sun
2. Scroll down to to tab that says Full game, Patches and Linux, and select "Patch for existing installations (Windows)
3. Install the downloaded patch, it will open a new window with a new shortcut.
4. Don't select Play Offline or any other button, but open settings on the bottom right of the window. In settings, set the game resolution to 800x600 (my preference), Renderer to Direct3D 9, and Display to Fullscreen.

This should make the game playable on the latest windows systems.

It already plays perfectly well for me on Windows 11, why do I need this patch?

EDIT: ah, it's for multiplayer? nevermind then.

Yeah its working, but the patch allows multiple resolutions without editing the INI´s. I also recommend it, but its not mandatory

Does it reduce ui ? Does patch fills entiréy sceeen for 16:9? Just asking if its worth. Lowering mouse scroll will also help. Wsad working would help the best. Does it work with that patch?

Nah, the CnCNet site has more than just multiplayer-related stuff. The patch is a bunch of general fixes.

For moi, the cncnet program made my c/c games crash on startup.

Myea this is a new release, so obviously the older patches won't work exactly like you'd expect; they were tweaked to the way the older releases worked. They'll probably update em soon(ish) to also work right on this new TUC format.

Thank you so much!

Do you know how to reduce the time when loading saved games?
After using the patch now it takes 2 minutes to load =/

But at least now I got proper widescreen and 1280 x 720p, it's gorgeous

Long loading? That never happened to me in my computer. Sorry I can't help to fix this.

I found out a workaround, just uninstalled the game and deleted the patch files on installation folder, then installed game again and did this:

Edit the 2 files below:

"SUN.ini"

[Video]
ScreenWidth=1280
ScreenHeight=720

Or what ever resolution you want

Then edit the file "DDrawCompat.ini" adding the new resolution:

SupportedResolutions = 640x400, 640x480, 800x600, 1280x720
DisplayFilter = bilinear

You can turn on v-sync too:

VSync = on

Thank you. This patch works a lot better and runs smoothly on my Windows 11 computer. The Steam version refuses to load the option screen. Thanks again!
