C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun
Open 2 files:
SUN.ini
DDrawCompat.ini
in SUN ini;
[Video]
ScreenWidth=960
ScreenHeight=540
StretchMovies=no
(I have those, 960x540 is like the half or quarter of 1080p resolution where the game still has its chunky pixels and the zoom level is closer to original intended but it's stretched more naturally to fit a 16x9 screen)
in DDrawCompat ini:
SupportedResolutions = 640x400, 640x480, 800x600, 960x540
(so just add ", 1920x1080" at the end of the line)
(but I really recommend something more like 960x540 simply because the higher the resolution the more zoomed out the view will be which will be especially at 4k a problem I think from just controlling the gameplay, understanding what's going on on the screen)
EDIT: Also, from PCGW:
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Tiberian_Sun
I tried the edits above, but I didn't see that resolution in the game after making those two edits....
Though would be cool to see this one get some remaster/remake/modernization attention.
Not sure if that's what you were looking for, but for instance you could try 1260x540, 1400x600, or perhaps 1120x480 (for 21:9 ultra widescreen)
Is 32:9 the other common ultrawide aspect ratio? Anyway when I put 540 in the pixels height on that site I got 1920 on width, so 1920x540 might be a nice round number in that case?
Also, you can try alternatives like on PCGamingWiki the TSPatch
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Tiberian_Sun#TSpatch
Or you can try the TS Client
https://www.moddb.com/mods/tiberian-sun-client/downloads/tiberian-sun-client-600
Extracting that into the TS installation folder and renaming the tiberiansun executable into the existing sun executable (deleting/moving/renaming the original SUN.exe first of course)
--- ALSO, of course the video files won't "stretch" naturally and many menu elements, so they will be slightly centered with black bars surrounding them, but the important question is, once in gameplay, are black bars still present or does it then take up the screen naturally?
