Getting the game to run in Windows 11 without installing any third-party software

I got the game running today on my PC with the following steps:

1. Find "Generals.exe" in the game folder.
2. Right-click and enter Properties.
3. Set "Compatibility mode" to "Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
4. Wait for the splash screen to resolve. It could take up to a few minutes.

Changed it to XP SP2 and it works. Just have to wait a few minutes for splash screen to disappear. Thanks!!!

yes, don't panic if the splash screen doesn't disappear

Works even better if you set compatibility mode to Windows 7, loads faster on my end.

Yeah this was weird as every other one of the C & C games seemed to run just fun minus Generals and Zero Hour. This simple trick saved the day. Can't thank you enough for this, fellow commander. *salutes*

Shouldn't be needed honestly and setting compatibility mode could actually cause issues.

After the update it should not be needed to use compatability mode. Athleast i have had no issue starting the game. What however is a problem is the zoom ingame.
