GenPatcher should fix all issues with C&C Generals, add features

GenPatcher should fix all the issues with C&C Generals on modern machines and OSes. It also adds in-game support for widescreen and high resolutions, and adds some other additional, optional features. It should generally be a one-step solution for all the issues people are mentioning in this forum.

According to a poster, both Generals and Zero Hour need to be installed for GenPatcher to work.

It's not detecting the steam versions for me.

If it's not detecting the Steam versions, make sure to run Generals and Zero Hour at least once each. Even if you get the "Serious Issue" error, that's good enough for the patcher to figure it out.

The patcher seemed to think I didn't have a legit copy, probably because I have them installed on a different drive than C, but eventually everything worked.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to fix the resolution change problem. Selecting a new resolution causes the game screen to shrink to the left corner and become uninteractable.

It works fine for me, adds the new resolutions to the ingame options. Did you use genpatch after this vanilla install or did you already have Generals installed elsewhere (ie., Origin)/already changed resolution in options.ini file?

I found the file (options.ini) in my C-drive --> Users --> User --> Documents --> Command and Conquer Generals Data (+Zero Hour) --> Options.
There I just pasted the above text into that file.

NOTE: You may need to change the 14th line, Resolution, to whatever your native resolution is. For me, it was "2560 1440". But for others it may be less.

Also, you need to initially start the game and let it give you the "technical difficulties" error, and then do the same thing with the Zero Hours expansion, before changing the (options.ini) file.

I get black screen with sound if i install GenTool, any fix for that?

Try: Genpatcher has worked well. ty.
1) Install Generals and Zero. enter both. fail msg. Restart and works 2nd time. idk why

OR just use this app..

2) also found this Mod / app patch that allows 1080p etc and does everything for you. Designed for the Origin 17 game package not the steam but works just as well. It will say invalid game source but just ignore and continue bc wants the ORIGIN files not steam. Also i modified my generals exe when the requested popup change asked for. Figured if something went wrong could just install steam game again. So far all working well.

GenPatcher doesn't recognise steam version for me.In the installation info it shows EA app of the left and the installation Directory is unknown.When i click on the installation directory it won't allow me to make it select the directory.

How do you get it to recognise steam version? when i click apply fix,it try to launch EA app then i get a warning error.Also in the Installation info it has the EA app logo on the left side and i'm not able to select the Steam version installation directory.
