Fails to start errors

Trying to launch Generals and it errors before it starts.

same. cant get past the launch screen (got windows11). not even with xp/vista compatibility modus

you gotta delete dbghelp.dll file from main files and boom it might work!
Thats how I done it!

Turns out I got it to work without deleteing anything just kept hitting play.
Shame it's turned out to be a meh game.

couldnt get passed the launch screen (cursor kept circling) but solved it.
the game basicly cant start with the current resolution settings.

I made a guide under Generals Zero Hour that fixes this issue for both games. Confirmed it works and requires no external software downloads.

This worked for me too - Note that the app is unstable when Alt-Tabbing when you do this method

I found the file (options.ini) in my C-drive --> Users --> User --> Documents --> Command and Conquer Generals Data (+Zero Hour) --> Options.
There I just pasted the above text into that file.

NOTE: You may need to change the 14th line, Resolution, to whatever your native resolution is. For me, it was "2560 1440". But for others it may be less.

Also, you need to initially start the game and let it give you the "technical difficulties" error, and then do the same thing with the Zero Hours expansion, before changing the (options.ini) file.

Thank you this mostly worked for me though I only did step 1,2,3 and 6. I didn't find options.ini
