I don't get where this aversion is coming from, i've been using C&Cnet for multiple Command & Conquer titles for more then 10 years now without issues.
Also, there actually are errors (file corruptions) in some of the cutscenes that cause game crashes, and the only fixes for those so far are 3rd party. But all they do is substitute the corrupted files with original ones from people's old CDs.
the PC antivirus says Cncnet has a trojan . but since i have seen some cnc players on twitch playing the game with this program , i guess i have to trust .
update : i installed the cncnet and it looks wonderful however when i wanna play the campaign the yuri's revenge music from the cncnet client keeps playing .
Lots of software like that work that way
CnCNet definitely doesn't do anything extra to specifically allow them; the system is only developed to work on the game files as they look on normal official installations, so it might in fact have missing asset issues with modified copies of the game.
Normally they're just dumped into the game folder, but I think CnCNet has a dedicated maps subfolder for them in there.
