Command & Conquer: Red Alert™ 2 and Yuri’s Revenge™

No "Game Speed" Option?
Is there any way to control the game's speed from the main menu or campaign mission options? I don't see one on the base game or Yuri's Revenge except for Skirmish mode.

I've tried adding -speedcontrol to the game's shortcuts but that hasn't worked and I haven't found any other solutions yet for Windows 10.

I heard the reason RA2 doesn't have it is because it makes more extensive use of cutscenes in the radar screen area, and those need to be timed to mission events and can't be sped up or slowed down.

And, yea, it's those launch options. Add it, start the game, and once you're in-game in the campaign, go to Game Controls, and the slider should be there. I just tested it, and it works, both in the base game and in Yuri's Revenge.

Note that since this is basically abandoned functionality, the game apparently does not save this game speed, so don't expect it to retain your speed setting when you launch the game again and load a mission. I heard it might even reset when starting a new mission.

I don't think Steam shortcuts accept any arguments. You have to add that in the Steam launch options for the game.
Thanks. Is that the space that says "Advanced users may choose to enter modifications to their launch options"?

Do you know what has to be typed there in order to unlock the game speed option? I tried "-speedcontrol" again and launched through Steam library but no luck so far. It's weird that the earlier C&C games had an adjustable game speed bar but RA2 inexplicably excluded it.

(I also tried editing the game's config files to set game speed from 6 to 4, but that hasn't had any effect either.)

Oh you're right, it does work once in-game. For some reason it wasn't on my main menu so I figured it didn't apply at all.

Perfect, now I can actually enjoy the campaign and continue my C&C binge as intended. I appreciate the help a lot.
