Mod for better resolution?
Which mod do I need for better resolution? It's horrible in the base game

You don't. You just need to follow the Steam guide how to force the game into using a higher one.

Not sure what you mean. Changing the game to higher resolution only zooms stuff out, not in.

The way to zoom in is simply to play on lower resolution :steammocking:

Just download CnCNet
It is a client that fixes a lot of problem including resolution fix / window mode and adds optimization tho.
You can also play online there.
Or just edit the files
I have the EA version not the steam version.

Still won't decouple screen resolution from UI size though.
