Command & Conquer: Red Alert™ 2 and Yuri’s Revenge™

Trying to get the game to play in a Window, any ideas?
So far, I've tried registry edits and short cutting attempts (things like -win).
But the issue I've run up against is an Error following:
"This product requires a 16 bit pixel depth!"

If anyone has an idea of how to get this game working in a window so I can do other things on the side I'd really appreciate it.

1. Download and install this fix for the renderer dll https://github.com/CnCNet/ts-ddraw/releases
2. Open your game's install folder and locate RA2.INI & RA2MD.INI
3. Open each in your text editor of choice, update the ScreenWidth & ScreenHeight settings to your resolution of choice

When you run the game the main menu will still be a tiny thing, but it opens at the full resolution once you start a mission or skirmish match.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

if you want windowed mode and steam overlay

Thankyou so much guys! I was looking around for ages trying to get this working xD
Much <3.
Hey so, I'm also trying to get the game to run in ddraw for windowed mode, and whenever I try to launch it it doesn't even open. Steam says the games' running and I see it for a split second in my taskbar and then it auto closes.

Not sure if I did it right. Is anyone else having this issue?

Verify your steam cache first, than run the fix from Tsundere Kanojo
"https://github.com/FunkyFr3sh/cnc-ddraw/releases

if you want windowed mode and steam overlay"

^^^
Follow the steps on the website above.
Pretty sure I just put everything into the main RedAlert2 folder than run that cnc-ddraw config.exe

Then go to your RedAlert2 folder - search:
\steamapps\common\Command & Conquer Red Alert II
Your looking for two files :
RA2.ini
RA2MD.ini

Inside you need to add :
Windowed=yes
Into the VIDEO section
(If its not already there.)

Try run it now and It should start fullscreen.
Alt+Enter to make it drop to a window.
Than go into the settings and change to the resolution you want...
(If u wanna get a better resolution go change the RA2/RA2MD config files under Video.)

Hope this helps, its what worked for me.

Thanks! I'll give it a try now, I've been trying to fiddle with it as you say, and the first time, it wouldn't launch at all. But then I got it to launch, and ddraw doesn't work.. ohhh complicated.

But, I'll figure it out eventually, thanks again for the help.

Edit: it works! Thank you!
