C&C Sole Survivor

Does anyone remember this game? Why hasn't this been released in an anthology pack?

Because this is a Command & Conquer Gold edition and it did not include Sole Survivor.

I've been thinking about this game every day when I look at my C&C collection everytime and notice it is missing.

It's a defunct MOBA of which no one still has the server-side software. I don't think it'd be easy to convince EA there's any merit in releasing that.

Definitely sad, as it was probably my favorite or at least most played out of all the C&C games. I remember they stopped selling it pretty early on too, I had to buy it on Ebay. That was one of the only purchases I ever made on Ebay and I got it for 25 cents and then played the heck out of it.

Sole survivor required the westwood chat app connected to the westwood online servers to function. Without access to them, you could only play single player practice mode against bots. Sole survivor had no story/single player mode and wasn't capable of hosting multiplayer matches with lan or self-hosting. Therefore, it wouldn't make much sense for ea to try and sell it without setting up the matchmaking servers which they would never do for a 3 dollar game.

However, there was a successful reverse engineering of the game client to allow multiplayer access in 2022 but all the links I find talking about it seems to be dead or invalid now.

Under the hood, Westwood Chat was just an irc channel though. That wasn't the hard part to replicate.

And one of the main devs on the Sole Survivor project was CCHyper, who is the one now hired by EA to manage the patching of the C&C games on Steam. So, suffice to say, he's got his hands full with other stuff at the moment.

Oh my, I totally forgot that game existed. I didn't get a chance to play it back in the day but it looked cool to me. Now you got me all upset that it's not here. Thanks a lot, buddy ;)
