As for what kind of switches, GamerFinger buttons ( http://www.gamerfinger.com/hbfs30.html ) use Cherry MX, though which one's specifically is left up to preference. A more specialized but "keyboard-like" option is a HitBox. Not necessarily that exact product though, since it's definitely possible to make your own hitbox as a DIY project.

Also a keyboard is essential to using a computer, so it makes more sense for me to have something dual-purposed. I'm not looking to be a tournament player or anything, so I don't really want to invest in something that's ONLY useful for playing fighters if that makes any sense.
I considered a hitbox, but it still has the problem of limited usefulness. I'm thinking something like this would be the best compromise for me: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-k70-fully-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-anodized-black-na-layout
just not sure if Cherry MX Brown or Cherry MX Red is a better option since I've never felt a mechanical keyboard before in any capacity (I currently use a standard keyboard with anti-ghosting so I can hit simultaneous inputs)
Blues have a tactile bump and a clicky sound. They're made for typing.
Reds react to really light touch and don't have an bump in the force needed to press them down. Ideal for gaming, you can just press buttons and it's smooth and easy.
Blacks are like super stiff reds if you like your violence.
Browns have a light activation force like reds, but do have a bit of a bump to let you know you've activated the switch like the blues do. They're a kind of do it all button that's pretty rad for anything but not the perfect ideal for anything either. If you haven't used a mechanical keyboard before, these are a great first purchase.
The main quality in a gaming keyboard you want is the ability to process many keystrokes at once. High key rollover over USB and N-key rollover over PS/2 is what you're looking at, reds or browns for a gaming bent.
My current (non-mechanical) keyboard already does process multiple keystrokes at once... though I think the limit is 10... which is fine 'cause I can't forsee ever hitting more than 10 keys at the same time xP
The main issue for me is whether or not I actually need the tactile bump. I don't know if it would improve my inputs or make things awkward... maybe being really smooth like red would work out better instead. I'm not really sure what feels the best to play a game like this on.
All I know is that right now I suffer from 2 problems:
1) I occasionally lose place on the keyboard and my fingers shift over one, causing me to hit the wrong keys... sending the wrong input or none at all.
2) my inputs are VERY bad. if I try to do something like tap: cr.B, cr.B, st.B with the input display on, I notice it reads 6-7 Bs instead of 3. At best, I can maybe get it down to 4 by going ultra slow but in that case, it usually doesn't combo. I don't know if this has anything to do with my keyboard or not though or if a mechanical one can help reduce extra inputs.
(Sorry for necroing)
the new keyboard I just bought came with 10 textured keycaps so I'm doing the 6-button currently and using the keycaps to let me fingers know if they slid out of place.
