Low res sprites on PC! :-(
Hopes for an updated with higher sprite resolutions? Scaling on 1920x1080 they look very blocky+blurred...
The game is great for the rest...

Nope. Would cost an insane amount of money.

(Full) Price is definitely too high since the work is a mere port with low res bitmap sprites.
Nice game, poor PC version. Could have been excellent with higher res gfx.

What?!
6,50US$ is too high!?
Ok, I believe you that the full 30US$ store price is high for some people, but with sales you can get it really cheap and now in the humble bundle you get it so cheap it's a steal.
I think some(one)thing else is too high.

GRAFIXX,GRAFIXX... Kids these Days...
The Steam version is best Port since it has the best Netcode..
And the Sprites are the same as on the Console Versions. What do you think it costs a Company to redraw Sprites for one Port? Its way more expensive than putting new Textures on 3D-Models ala USF 4...

So... what resolution should the game be played in for the "best appearance"?
Jacowboy Aug 20, 2014 @ 1:32pm
the issue is with scaling. There's no fix for that. The actual size of the sprites is what you see in the "choose the order / stage" screen.

Because of proportions, there's no way to scale them properly to make them look sharper.

And no, re-doing them is not an option, given how much it costs... Plus, they're fine, you'll get used to them eventually... I was kind of weirded out at first, but trust me, it's the best looking fighting game out there... that pixel art is beautiful, warts and all.

If you've played the KoF franchise for a significant amount of time, you really don't have an issue with pixels- it's been much, much worse... even then they were charming in their own right.

FYI I've been playing beat'em up arcades since the original Street Fighter I era (and before, but I'm talking of the real arcade cabinets, not MAME) with real microswitched joysticks (not those so called modern "controllers" for couch TV console gamers) and I'm over 35...
Tsk, why medium level of Steam users is so low? Sometimes I really think there are just 2 categories of (blind/deaf) commenters for Steam: Lovers and Haters. So sad...

I don't think here someone (smart) would have had something to say against better looking hi-res enhanced 2D drawn sprites, less blocky on modern screen resolutions....

Wonder what would be the minimum pc specs to run a game with 1080P 2D drawn sprites. People would then cry about how useless 2D is because their computers would run it like crap. If you like pixels, try Kof XII (the arcade one, not the console version with dumbed down AI).

I find the sprites really beautiful, love 'em. I'd not change a thing. And they're not blurry for me or anything, just sharp pixelart.

This game already pushes low end machines to the limit. People tend to forget that this game has a lot of lighting effects that use 3D hardware, so ultra high res sprites will use a lot of VRAM. And the game will be HUGE, 50+ gigabytes. Not to mention that it will cost millions to make so many sprites. That's why there's not too many 2D HD games that have a lot of animation frames.

Sprites are good as they are now anyway.

And this game got only one really annoying problem - replays are broken and usually desync after second round and you can't see player names in replays.

I love the 2d artwork in this game and the music is great too. Unless your a millionare willing to chip in some dough I dont think they would redraw all the sprites in the entire game. I dont think you realize how much work that is

Has anyone tried using SweetFX to smooth it in appearance?

I'm afraid to since it might mess up some files and not launch anymore (which happens, need to reinstall then), or might be detected as hacking or something.
