Insurgency
Sound mods broken after last patch
As title says. Anyone figured out how to fix this? Or is there even a fix? I tried to resubscribe to the mods, empty my workshop map and verify game cache. Is it just an issue we have to wait until dev fixes?

Have you tried snd_restart or changing your sound settings? (this will restart your sound without having to type any console commands)
I have done snd_restart several times with diffrent mods. Should I reinstall the game?
Got this issue as well, already tried snd_restart.
It sounds (lol) like the creators of the mods have to change the format of their sound files. I don't remember what the other discussion said exactly, but if you made a workshop sound mod, go find that discussion.

Yeah, I just notiched that in the original game files, for example insurgency_sound_dir.vpk, that the files had changed format from .wav to .ogg. Could this the reason? Does it mean that for example I have to convert all my sound files for my own mod to .ogg from .wav?
EDIT:
This fixes are obsolete, due to a change in audio format, however moving mods to the custom folder still works against workshop issues.

Hi all.

Here are two possible problems and also ways how to fix them:

1. First if snd_restart does not fixing your Problem, you may need to delete your sound.cache file which is located in:
Steam\SteamApps\common\insurgency2\insurgency\custom\workshop\sound

Dont worry, there will be a new file created next time when you launching the Game. If this did not help go to step two below:

2. While such big events like the christmas sale, the workshop does not always work properly (servers get used for the store instead of the workshop)

Solution:
Unsubscribe from the malfunctioning mod,

then go to your Insurgency workshop Folder:
Steam\SteamApps\common\insurgency2\insurgency\custom\workshop

And move the VPK file of the Mod thats not working correctly to the custom folder.
Steam\SteamApps\common\insurgency2\insurgency\custom

Important:
Since a past update every Mod gets his own personal sound.cache file, regardless if its in the workshop or custom folder.

In example: "1234_INS_MOD.vpk" (this is the Mod)

"1234_INS_MOD.vpk.sound.cache" (this is its sound.cache file)

So if you move your mod from the workshop folder to the custom, dont forget to DELETE the old "1234_INS_MOD.vpk.sound.cache" file in the workshop folder as it will conflict with the new file in the custom folder.

Also dont worry here too, your mod gets his new sound.cache file, next time the game is started.

3. If none of the above fixed your problem, unsubscribe every Mod from the workshop, then find every sound.cache file in the workshop and custom folder and delete them all, and then move every VPK file to the custom folder. This is basically step 2, just with all your mods.

Hope this helps, if its still not fixed you can try to reinstall the Game but remember, if default Sounds work fine and Mod sounds do not, its most likely a Mod Issue.

I believe it does, unfortunately. Let us know if you do change them, and if it fixes it.

Also, anyone reading this should leave a message on broken sound mod workshop pages telling the creator what's up.

Edit: Unless F1GHT3R™'s fixes work. :P

Are you guys sure they changed the format?
As far as i now Insurgency uses .OGG for Music and .WAV for effects and Voices.

I will do some testing too and report back here if i found something useful.

I tried all of this but none helped. I belive the error atm lies in that the devs have changed the format of all the sound files in the original vpk files D:

Yeah, I made my own mod just a week ago. It worked fine until last patch. I made my mod according to the original game files. For example all the original game files for the voice reponses like realoding or throwing a frag was .wav files, now all of them are .ogg files.

This is correct, all voice responses & radial audio has been changed to ogg for memory footprint reduction and improved streaming from disc. Any mods that currently replace radial commands or automated voice responses will need to be converted to ogg I'm afraid. Suggested setting for doing so is VBR @ 44,100Hz.

Alright, thanks for the info.
Do you know if this also applies for Effects like Guns and Explosions?

This will take some time for fixing the mods, but if this optimizes the sounds even better im okay with that :)
It's just radial, voice responses and HQ (although HQ audio was converted to ogg quite a while back already) and soundscape emitters (non looping). Weapon audio/explosives etc. will not be changed to ogg.

Aha! So my guess was correct! Thanks for confirmation! Any speical amount of channels or is it still 2-channel stereo that is the default? :)
For voice related stuff mono @ 44,1Hz and VBR as opposed to ABR.
