Hip Fire
It's a bit easy with hip fire at the moment, can we get a recoil increase and accuracy decrease in hip firing?

I can hold a gun just as steady in real life from the hip, so why nerf hip fire?
TorKett 10 feb, 2014 @ 12:22
It's true that you can hold a firearm just as steady but quite often it's too easy and for game mechanic purposes I find that it reduces the tactical side of the gameplay. Maybe it's not such a shared opinion but experience of doing it and having it done to me is becoming more and more common.

Maybe I just enjoy it more when you cover your mate and sweep an area as opposed to counter striking it rushing in.

But won't that take the realism out of it? You know the kind of game this is trying to be, realistic.

easy with or without the foregrip?
Burchmeister 10 feb, 2014 @ 12:54
Yeah, trained guys can hipfire very accurately. This is believable and needs to stay the way it is. It's perfect.

I prefer to aim down the sights most of the time anyways, and the only time I actually rely on non-ADS shooting is if it's close quarters and I have a laser sight. That's just me.

Also a foregrip may have something to do with it.

Accurate hipfire is very possible at the ranges most enagagements happen in INS. I could pull up some videos, but I'm on my phone. Anyone have that Youtube clip of the Syrians supressing a building about 100m out from the hip and getting decent spread on one window?
No way. It's hard enough as it is and takes practice due to the free aiming. If it got nerfed, I wouldn't even bother to blind fire. Aren't things crappy enough with your guys aim going all over the place when one bullet whizzes by?

2 things, this game doesn't have hip fire, it's from high ready, which means shouldered but not aim down sights. Second thing is all guns are dead accurate. There is no cone of fire or one gun more accurate than another.

Good point(s). If it was hip, you wouldn't be able to see the gun I suppose. Now that I think about it, practically the only hip fire in video games is when using the minigun in CoD because you can't shoulder the thing! Lol. Or maybe shotguns if they don't have a stock.

High ready would allow you to be more precise of course--with some practice, I suppose an operator shouldering a gun but not aiming down a sight could get off some decent shots (under the circumstances) just by using hand-eye coordination. They say that when you're driving, if you look at an object you want to avoid, you'll tend to actually steer towards it...I expect it's similar with a gun, though I have never thought to try this much while I'm out shooting. Maybe I'll try it sometime.

This game "free aim" (correct me if I use wrong term), so your gun doesn't attached to camera in high ready/hipfire state, which makes hipfire not being OP and actually I think it's very skillful part of the game, and should stay as is.

The aiming in Insurgency reminds me a bit of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 except Insurgency doesn't have a reticle.

I don't trust hipfire enough to use it unless I'm caught off guard. Seems fine to me.

Agreed here. Unless I have a laser sight--it has been useful many times for me in close quarters--I especially like to put one on my pistol as a sniper or marksman, which allows me to much more safely move through tighter areas where my 4x scoped or sniper scoped rifle wouldn't be as useful. When it comes to rifles, I also really like a laser sight. Iron sights are fine with me in Inurgency (compared to some other games it seems, so a holographic sight is 2nd priority to a laser sight.

Led beat me to it.

What exnihilo said, add to that the fact that 'hipfire' high ready uses the free aim system... It's perfect.
