What's the benefit of using submachine gun?
It doesnt seem like submachine guns have any advantage over rifles.

I believe faster rate of fire with less recoil. I really like the MP5K on ministry.

close quarters combat for one. I would imagine there'd be less of a penalty for running around with them too compared to an assault rifle or LMG. I could be wrong about that though.

They weigh less as well. So on close quarter maps with objectives you can rush they become ideal.

The advantage of an SMG over an Assault Rifle lies in the higher rate of fire, less recoil/round fired, and faster handling. Weight also comes into play.
The disadvantages are less stopping power/round since SMG's use pistol size rounds, as well as less accuracy at medium and long range.
That being said, some SMG's still have decent accuracy at longer ranges and their higher rate of fire gives them an edge in close quarter fights.

I was out shooting sharpshooters on Peak with a UMP/iron sight. I was just using single shot mode and it was accurate enough.

I do not think the advantages of an SMG beat out the rifle in the current Supply system, paying 3 points just to get a plain-jane UMP. You could get an M16 with AP Ammo for 4 points. I only use SMG's when I want to try some variety.

Faster RoF, light weight, less recoil.

Beyond what others have mentioned, SMGs have a smaller model than rifles, allowing for ambush tactics without the fear of giving away one's position with an unfortunately placed barrel.

Think back on all the kills you've made because you noticed the tip of a barrel poking around a corner. I'd wager that few to none of those people were holding an SMG.
