Can't install
I can't seem to fully install this game. I installed it on my SSD then once the downlaod completed it wouldn't launch due to a missing .exe so I verified the game and it said 1 file is missing and then (update required) appeared beside the game...i double click to update then it says "an error occure while installing insurgency (not enough disk space)"

so I then thought I'd delete it and re-install and there was still no difference. I then thought ok I'll install it on my 2 TB hard drive instead and exactly the same thing happens with missing .exe first then space issue.

I then deleted the steamapp cache folder as suggested on the official T/S page and rebooted PC and still made no difference. I also tried disabling my anti-virus.

Anyone else have a similar issue?

It's possible that your anti-virus is flagging and quarantining your .exe as a false positive.

See if this helps at all https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4361-MVDP-3638

Im having the same problem
Draxx 23 ENE 2014 a las 8:32
same here.

first the issue with antivirus (bitdefender) - added steam and the folder to whitelist
verified game cache and redownloaded 1 file - couldnt download - not enough disk space.

deleted the whole game and everything related in cache - tried to reinstall/download - cant install - "not enough disk space" (no antivirus message)

I just want to play the game :(

Same issue here with BitDefender. Might just try totally disabling it for the re-install process, then see what happens.

Yeah, seemed to work. Question is, will it stay workin' after I enable BitDefender :p

It seems unacceptable to have to completely uninstall your anti-virus to play a game. Devs should work this out before doing anything else.

The anti-virus is the problem, its producing a false-positive. The devs can't do much about poor anti-virus behavior.

If it was simply the anti virus, would it be possible to downl;oad just the .exe file and manually place it? The file is not in the download. There is no false positive anything. Just no file? Anti-virus does not do this. It would kick a warning and/or refuse the download. But in this case, the .exe file is not downloaded.

Its only specific AV programs causing the install issues for people. obviously the fault of the anti-virus program. Insurgency installs the same way any other steam source game does. Don't blame the game on your buggy anti-virus software.

This is not the first time I've seen an anti-virus application cause this type of issue.

I have bit defender as well. All i had to do was add an exception where steam installed insurgency....AV issues with games are not unheard off. I do not fault the devs at all. After the exception is properly made, restart PC and verify files. That's all I had to do.
