Look at target and notice that one looks like a soldier and others look like insurgents. Depending on what team you joined your target is either friend or foe.

Go to workshop, search insurgency, and find the playermodels. Click subscribe to install them.

These mods don't work on every server, it depends on if the server owner has allowed them to be used.

It can take a bit of getting used to when you are probably used to games giving you indicators that show if someone is friendly or not, but in time it'll be no problem for you.

I wouldn't say that going by gun sound is the best thing. You can grab guns on the ground, anyways.

It should work in the beginning of the round, however. And this is how eyes AND ears should work, if you hear an enemy weapon than you should check that area out, even if its a false alarm. But dont stop looking for enemies too, of course. A useful tip is also to listen to the death screams, after getting used to the game you can tell if its insurgent or security and then make a move (Enemy death scream:Teammates got that area covered; Friendly scream:Enemies moving in)

Sorry man, the game is badly designed. For some reason you can see your squad members through walls always, but not your non squad members. This is clearly not about realism, cause then noone would be visible through walls, so its bad game design.
