It does work but you have to run two commands that delete some useless files.
These two: rm (find | grep libstdc++) and rm (find | grep libgcc)

And The original Archlinux forums discussion[bbs.archlinux.org]
Maybe check which drivers you're running. OpenSource vs Proprietary. I know on nVidia the OpenSource driver kind of suck and the Proprietary one works better. Other than that I don't know what to say. I've been playing this game for a long time on Linux and haven't had any issues. There's a thing where you can't download things like custom maps while loading in so make sure you are subscribed on the workshop or download and install it manually from a host before connecting. Most servers like 91x you can just install the game and drop into without any work and have enough content to keep you engaged.

Stop working suddenly. Tested on Kubuntu 21.04 and Manjaro.

Wish I could help, but I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 still, and only reinstalled the game (when I added a larger HDD) a year ago, and didn't have any trouble with it starting and running.

For a long while it didn't count my hours played, and even now it does not exit properly and I have to click the "Stop" button on the Steam page, and in addition to that I have to run a script to kill the process because it is still running in the background.

Got it working by adding this to my launch options.
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libgcc_s.so.1 %command%
There's a similar fix[wiki.archlinux.org] on the game-specific troubleshooting page in the ArchWiki, but I didn't need any of the other options.

Now i use W, but in the past under U 20.1 worked fine, Open GL Nvidia drivers.
It was working but I got fed up a while ago playing offline (bots start getting stuck on walls in spawns after a while and the game is unplayable) and nuked it. Fast forward a while and I reinstalled to test some things and the game no longer launches at all. Last time it worked was on Xubuntu 18.04 for me, now on 21.04.

Fooling around I found if I just cd to the games folder and ./insurgency_linux it runs, complains about en_US.UTF-8 but it runs...

Now to figure out why I can't load custom maps...damned thing shows a overview, then as soon as it actually loads it switches to a stock map with no error or reason.

Load the map either via your own custom playlist or via command line (debug console) while on Main Menu, as soon as you choose any NWI solo playlists, it restricts the pool to allowed_maps of that playlist.
