Arma 3 is pretty much a platform for whatever you want to play. It's core is the military simulation, but you can do close quarters in it fairly well. Also, with how impressive the modding community is, you can play everything from World War 2 all the way to future super mechs in Arma 3. Arma 3 is daunting to get into by yourself and you really do need most of the DLC's to play without headaches so it is more expensive.

Play Arma 3 if you want a large sandbox that requires you to be a part of a community in some way to get the most out of it. I always like Insugency for just getting in and playing without the need for me to get someone else to tag along.

Insurgency is not a simulator, but the ArmA is a walking simulator - too boring. In my opinion you should wait for the Sandstorm.

if you cant afford to buy both then you probably cant run arma on your pc.

If you think Arma is a walking simulator you know nothing about Arma. Arma is a milsim ocean. that you can fully customize to do just about anything you want providing you invest the time to understand it. The game doesn't baby you, I think is what you're trying to say.
A game of ArmA KOTH on a populated server is easily one of the most intense tactical combat scenarios available on the internet atm.

Same as Escape from Tarkov, ARMA3 is not a casual game. Insurgency, on the other hand, can be played casually. I speak from what I've seen, and from what I've played.

Insurgency is not worth your penny, so don't bother! It's just a casual shooter.

Instead, I highly recommend you to buy Escape From Tarkov or Arma3.

If you want gun realism (realistic gun porn, gun modding, gun customization, gun handling, and gunplay, bullet ballistic penetration, etc), I highly insist you on buying ESCAPE FROM TARKOV. It's literally the most realistic weapon simulator ever made. The devs are bunch or Russian dudes who are obsessed with guns (one of them even are even an ex-spetsnaz officer, damn!). But, EFT is not a military game, it's a survival game. You play as a mercenary trying to survive a war in a messed up city called Tarkov (that's the whole point of the game). Most people said EFT is way too hardcore to play. To me, the game is really fun and challenging! ^_^ The hardest part of the game is the fact that everytime you die in multiplayer, you'll lose all the gears and items that you carry.

If you want some cheap military simulation (with amazing modding community), I highly suggest you to get ARMA 3. The vanilla game doesn't offer you anything, but the modding community is incredibly amazing. You can get any kinda mods you want (from military realism mods to sci-fi mods). I personally love ACE3 mod coz it offers me the realism I want (not as realistic as Escape From Tarkov though but not bad). You can also create your own mission and your own mod. In Arma 3, you can create your own world. The major issue of Arma 3 is its old rusty game engine which hinders realism and optimization (the devs have been recycling same old engine since 2001 lol) which is why Arma 3 will never have gun realism as good as Escape from Tarkov.

Yeah, i kinda have the same problem with Escape from Tarkov. Insurgency (both this and Sandstorm) is faster and has more action in a time frame.

I would say Squad is a mixture between Insurgency and Escape from Tark, since it has long-range encounters, as well as close quarters battles. Arma needs you to be patient, also Tarkov (for looting/ modifying your equipment), but in Sandstorm/Insurgency, you get to modify your stuff in almost no time, and you'll have lots of action.

I love how Tarkov has realism, mixed with gaming, but overall I like Insurgency more because of the never-waiting-for-action.

For casual play, I would recommend Sandstorm, Insurgency and Squad.
