I can not find a way to send invite to friend play Insurgency under Steam Linux
Hello. I'm Linux user and I'm having some issues to send invite to friends.
From time to time I got some friends online and want to call em to play Insurgency in the same server I'm playing. The problem ins that I can't find any how to send invite but, if they are already playing, they can send invite to me.
I searched in game menu, in friends list and not a clue how to do this, theres no such option "Invite friend to play".
Does anyone knows how to do that? Is there any way like command line on game console or any other way?
Regards.

Yes

If you are chatting with a friend, through steam text, click the little arrow next to their name, and click invite to game.

Shift tab, then right click their name either in friends list or in PMs and then click invite to game.
You can also join them in the same way.
Thanks for you suggestions, but as I said, theres no such option. I will list the options I have:
"Send Message, View Steam profile, Block Comm, Invite to chat, Invite to group, Invite to trade, Join Game, View Game Info..." and some other options, don't have "Invite to Play" option.
Also, in game menu when I see list of friends I have only 4 options: "Send Message, View profile, Join Game and View Game Info".

Provide screenshots so it can be troubleshooted OP.
Sure:
Friends List / Chat options [drive.google.com]
Game menu Options [drive.google.com]
Those are all options I have. No matter if I do "alt+tab" or "shift+tab" to reach friends list.

Before you join a server create a group from the main menu and have your friends join it. Then when you join a a server they will join with you. Or if you are already in a server you can open console and type "status" which will give you the server info. Copy/paste your friends the server IP and they can connect through console by typing "connect 12.235.2567.56" (server IP). Lastly when you are in a game they can simply click on "view game info" seen here [drive.google.com] and from there they can join your server.

Good, nice to know those options. That "status" command is very cool. Thank you so much for the help.

Bumb, same isue here:
- I can invite friends to a party, they do not see the invite
- Friends can Invite me
- While playing Insurgency, I am not in a game for my friends (only 'online')
..
in my case only in the new chat, the invites from linux no way. I don't appear online in game. this happens too, and I think that it causes the problem

I have the same problem on Linux: When I start the game my nickname in "friends" is green only for few seconds (status "playing...") but then it turns blue (status "Online") and nobody sees that I'm plyaing (and they don't see my invites). Any way to fix it?

I got the same problem.

I'm on Linux too and have the same issue. When I start the game my status is "Playing Insurgency" for a very brief moment, then goes back to "Online". Invites don't work either.

Lol My reply from a year ago still going strong. Yeah you guys on linux are pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ like that and I doubt its gonna get fixed anytime soon/at all. Your invites probably just wont work at all and I have no idea how to fix it.

2 work arounds. 1) get your friends to create the party and invite you, presumably they can invite you, or 2) Connect to a server and give your friends the IP so they can connect via console. The command is "connect ip.paddress.copied.here" A servers IP can be found ingame via entering the "status" command in the console.

Hope this helps. Im not sure what update broke the system for linux but I doubt itl ever be fixed so you are going to have to work around it unfortunately. Hope you can still play alright :)

seems like linux gamers should stay clear of this dev in the future:
- old games don't get maintained on linux
- new games don't get day one support, and probably will end up broken if they ever release on linux

Thank you, will try this workaround.
It's annoying though that they don't have time to fix their game, while they do have time to create new...
