How To: Getting SourceMod to work after update
Hey all,

As most of you are aware, the last update crippled modded servers; rendering some plugins useless (coutrynick, botnames, etc...) and making some others crash the server (i.e. afkmanager).

Here are the steps I took in order to get all these working again:

1) The server must have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update installed. Here's the link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347

2) Backup your admins.cfg file as this will get overwritten in the process (I would suggest backing up the whole server prior to continuing to step 3. Just in case)

3) Get an updated version of SourceMod, latest snapshot here: http://www.sourcemod.net/snapshots.php At the moment this guide was written, the latest windows version is 1.7.1-git5161.zip

4) Install SourceMod 1.7.1 (overwrite any duplicated files)

5) Replace your admins.cfg file with the backed up one.

6) The countrynick plugin requires GEOIP update, you can get it here: http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoLiteCountry/GeoIP.dat.gz
- open the archive and transfer the database to sourcemod\configs\geoip\

Some plugins might need to be recompiled with version 1.7.1 of the sourcemod compiler. Just to be on the safe side, I recompiled all three of the plugins that were giving me trouble: countrynick, botnames, and afkmanager)

The sourcemod compiler comes with sourcemod, in the scripting folder. It's called spcomp.exe.

Hope this helps some of you out there.

For Linux admins, just installing the Linux 1.7.1-git5161 tar.gz file will suffice. If you're using GeoIP/Country Nick, you'll need to do the step with downloading the GeoIP database, but the paths are similar.
Edit: Clarifying post, thanks Jedrula (or is it Jedyaula?).

I use GeoIP and i don't have any problems with this, so...
anyway:
  • I have 4 linux servers, all are on Debian Wheezy
  • till last update, I don't have any problems with SM & MM - all back to normal after last hotfix and new 1.7 SM
  • I use some plugins likes motd/urls script, rules when players are connected and they need to accept or they will be kicked, plugins which need GeoIP to display properly players location
  • also I use gameME stats plugin and it work fine

If any1 need to test it, feel free, simple write in game chat:
  • !rules - to check rules which are stored on my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ webpage (html)
  • !server - to see gameME webpage with my servers (html)
  • !contact - to see contact webpage (html)
  • !donate - to be forwad to donate paypal site (html)
  • !kpd !statsme !top10 !status !session !stats !help - to see gameME plugins (html + game text)

To all admins which have problems with plugins, use in game console "sm exts list" to be sure that all yours plugins/extension work fine - remember that you need to install "Socket (3.0.1): Socket extension for SourceMod" for some plugins and also "GeoIPCity (1.1.1): Geographical IP information".

Regards

p.s.
I forgot, as always I have "ancient" problem with my mapcycle and start map + gamemode - but it's so rusty as hell :) Sure, I could re-edit all maps.txt but I don't have time for it, and I should make this each time when update will come, so... As I good remember @=7Cav=CPL.Ballou.J mention 1 day about somekind of plugin which can handle this problem :)

I have a tool which will be released shortly where an admin defines some mapcycle files, and the rules for them (like "only PVP, all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ maps, and custom maps X Y and Z") and it keeps the maps themselves on the server synced with my FastDL server, and keeps the mapcycle files up to date.
I need a tool which which can help me with gamemode restrictions on servers. For example, if I would have server only with Push/Skirmish/Occupy gamemods, then he "keep" only this gamemods (the problem now is this, that even I already have only in mapcyle this 3 gamemods, then sometimes/random servers change map with firefight gamemode, and it's rly annoying - especially when server start with "diffrent" gamemod). As i good rember on Windows servers this problem not exist - but not sure...

Do you mean specifically a startup map ?
yes @Arc, I mean startup map problem - not all maps run on start with gamemode which was choice, it's an old problem with Linux servers, no matter what we do, in 99% always will start map with wrong gamemode :)

I was told that you can do:
create a cfg, put +map mapname modename into it and then instead of +map do +exec saidcfg

This part is actually already working. See my development branch at http://ins.jballou.com/maps.php?command=mapcycle
