Windows Server 2016 + SteamCMD / Srcds not working ?
After hosting Insurgency the last time a year ago, on a WS2012 Rootserver, now I want to start hosting again and got myself a new Root with WS2016 this time.

I was hosting on my home PC for a while (W10) and I still had my old files from my last server. So I know the Start.bat etc with the Server works and has worked before.

When I want to start Insurgency on WS2016, nothing happens. The .bat file with the startup line (which is correct) simply doesn't start at all, or it closes so fast that you cant see it. When I start the .bat manually from CMD, it only displays the contet of the file, rather than executing it.

Anyone here experience with WS2016 and SteamCMD ? Is SteamCMD not working correctly on that WS Version maybe ? Any info is appreciated.

Thank you.

Thanks, Arc. I did that now. Someone else hinted that "start" might not work anymore with WS2016, although I am not sure.

Might explain why it worked with my last hosting, which was with WS2012, or if that document just wasnt updated.

But running with just SRCDS does not work either. If you run it with Start, even after installing VCDRedist 2010, it still closes again faster than you can see almost. And without Start it just displays the content of the .bat, but nothing gets executed. I wonder if SteamCMD and WS2016 are not compatible for some reason.

I found a similiar post, although it wasnt specific about the OS. But it displays the same issues I think.

You have to have both x86 and x64 versions for that. Client game is using vcredist 2013 as well as 2010 so you might want to install that as well just to be sure.

Ok, that seemed to have been the issue. Its working finally. Another thing unrelated, how do I get to display the right country flag with the Server in the Serverlist ? For some reason it displays a strange flag there, sure not from Germany.

Something in the server.cfg that controls that ?
