(Mac OS X) Custom Map issues: "Disconnected - Missing Map" error
In some custom map servers, I'm getting a "Disconnected" error. I can watch Insurgency download the necessary files, including the custom_map_name.bsp file, but then it will say "Disconnected - Missing Map maps/custom_map_name.bsp, disconnecting".

What I did notice watching it happen just now is that it is downloading a file named "custom_map_name.bsp.bz2". Perhaps this is a clue to the issue?

I was able to manually download a custom map and play it. Through the Steam Overlay Library>>Games>>Insurgency click <browse the workshop> (bottom of screen). From the right menu click the map type you want. Then from the list of custom map icons click one you want to download. To verify it is downloading click Library>>Downloads. Wait til status says ready to play. Launch the game. I tested it by joining that particular custom map listed on the game servers. I have NOT tested this during in-game when ops change to custom maps. OSX 10.10.3
Go to INSMAPS.com or the Workshop and download any map you need.

Maps have to be pointed to on third party webservers for the server you play on to provide an automatic download available while playing the game.
I know sometime we forget to upload one of a group of maps and this is the error that will occur.

I tried downloading from insmaps.com first. However the site is primarily for PC players. I downloaded the .zip file and was able to extract them. However, on the OSX version there are no map folders in my system. There are no folders at all to copy the map files onto. If there are, actually I would like to know. Maybe through using the Terminal?

"..\SteamApps\common\insurgency2\insurgency\maps"

No idea if MAC have different path for steam games, but the folder structure starting from "insurgency2" is the same :-)

Arc? yes you have no idea :)
The OSX version does NOT consist of this path. The SteamApps folder is empty. Even when I download the map files through the workshop, the files cannot be located by the Finder. So insmaps currently does not cater to OSX. I also have a PC version and the files are evidently managed differently.

I downloaded all the custom maps through the Workshop yesterday. They are now fully tested even during in-game when ops choose the custom maps. Although the auto downloads seems to be still faulty if you are missing the maps, all the custom maps so far have worked on my OSX 10.10.3 after manual download.

Then locate this:
Path: /Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/*/insurgency_osx
wheres "insurgency_osx" is actual startup file

Auto download, again, has to be first uploaded to a 3rd server (not the game server) and then pointed to from the game. So if autodownload is not working on a particular map it is either the maps are downloading to a different location than the game is looking for or the server Admins have not upload the map and pointed to it in the cfgs.

Arc - cannot locate that path. I have Users/adminuser/Applications/Insurgency. The steam app is just Applications/Steam - There is no Application Support folder. Again no map folders.

AngryHatter - The auto download error occured only on the OSX hence leading me to this thread. My PC was also auto downloading simultaneously the same map(s). So far I have not experienced any auto download issues with the PC. If certain custom maps were configured incorrectly I assume I would have also experienced errors with the PC.

Path: /Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/insurgency2

Again: "LIBRARY"

btw "Since Mac OS 10.7 the Library folder is not displayed in the Finder anymore." use "Go to..." option
(10 seconds of googling, idk if that info is valid)

It could be pointing to the wrong place to put the files. Do a search for the bsp and see if you in fact DID download it.
