How to fix Insurgency on Windows 11 (BattlEye Crash)
As I'm sure you all know after the latest 24H2 update to Windows 11, Insurgency stopped working. That's because the literal spyware that is BattlEye did not play well with the new changes Microsoft made to the Windows kernel.

More specifically, Insurgency uses a very old version of BattlEye (I believe from 2018), and it seems that this outdated version causes crashes / blue screens of death.

So how do you fix it? Since the developers have not published a fix yet, follow the steps below:

1) Open installation folder of Insurgency
2) RENAME BattlEye folder to something else (example, Original_BattlEye) and REPLACE the folder with the BattlEye folder of another game that has a newer, functioning version (e.g GTA 5, Arma 2, Unturned, so on).
3) On the new BattlEye folder you have, replace BELauncher.ini with the original BELauncher.ini from Insurgency.
4) Enjoy playing the game again.

I have tried the solution above to 2 different computers and it works.

It will be a great shame if this game dies because people can't figure out how to play it again.

You ARE THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GOAT, I've been searching for ages and this fixed everything man.

Just glad I had GTA 5 installed, no clue where you could get those needed files from.
Genius, it helped! :)

@all here is a list of games with BattlEye in case you don't have GTA 5. I'd recommend something that we know for sure is updated, for example ArmA 3, ArmA Reforger, Destiny 2 or DayZ. I've tested it with DayZ and it worked as well.

https://steamdb.info/tech/AntiCheat/BattlEye/
Followed the instructions but I get an error: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I have both the new BattlEye folder (from Arma 3) in the files, but I also kept the original file there. By replace did you mean remove the original?
Also the "BELauncher.ini" isn't there it's just BELauncher. I still replaced the one from the new with the old but I'm wondering if it matters?
Did I do something wrong here? Any help would be great!

The original files need to be replaced or renamed (i'd recommend just putting them in a different folder) with the exception of BELauncher.ini. That file must exist and it needs to contain the following information:

[Launcher]
GameID=ins
BasePort=27018
32BitExe=insurgency.exe
64BitExe=insurgency_x64.exe
SilentInstall=0

I don't have Arma 3 installed right now so I can't replicate your problem. I hope my reply helps.

My guess is that version of BattlEye from War Thunder is incompatible for one reason or another. If you don't have any alternatives reach out to me and I'll help you figure it out.

How about joining a server with an active battleye anti-cheat does it work? Cause I've been trying to fix insurgency with different method and I can't join those server

can you join servers with the anti-cheat with this method?
