FPS drops: a constant bug in some maps
Today I was playing this map with the garage (don't know the names yet, sorry) and I noticed how fps drop to almost the half in almost the exactly same area. There's gotta be some bug

Settings:
1080p
everything maxed out (tried lowering MSAA and finally disabling it, changed nothing)

Specs:
HIS Radeon R9 270X IceQ X² turbo boost
AMD A8 5600K
asus f2a85-m
2x4gb Kingston DDR3 1600mhz
WD caviar blue sata 3

I'm guessing that the map is poorly optomized in the direction you're looking in for the fps drops.

This is based on very little knowledge of map optomization and zero knowledge of any of the in game maps. So probably not much help.

From a mapping standpoint, there's probably a pixel sized portal leak, and the player's pc is rendering everything behind that pixel (or more) gap. or just a bad portal position conflicting wih a texture . something like that. it can be fixed but requires re "burning" or compiling the map. I notice this alot in ALL games as I'm an ex-mapper

yeah, I thought of that too (even though I don't understand about mapping/programming, it kind of reminded me of the fps troubles with the arma engine) Hope they can fix it.

This happens also in Heights. Just stay by a wall, look where the map ends and then look to the middle of the maps. Fps drops from 120 to 50-60

I get fps drops sometimes looking down scopes and the same as you running around the map in areas

whenever you get those drops, try and see it if is a spot. I keep finding this spots that look like what pipi_long_stocking explained.

I looked into it and there isn't really much to fix. Atleast not worth the time. There are a lot of cars in the basement which are a lot of polygons. The sidewalk is made of a lot of small models, they could make one model out of it but since it's so low poly it won't help really much. And if you stand close to a wall like that it doesn't mean it won't render what's behind it. There are areas called visleaf's, this are big rectangles of different sizes. In game it renders all visleafs that can be seen by the visleaf you currently in. What you can do is start ins. Open console and type "map minestry". Then type "sv_cheats 1" in console. And then "mat_wireframe 3" (just try 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, there all different). And "mat_leafvis 1" (or it was visleaf).

thanks for the explanation, but, not worth the time? It really bothers gameplay, man, these fps drops make it hard to spot and fire accuratelly sometimes. I think if anything, this should be pretty close to top priority.
