Follow these steps to help resolve crashing issues

We are working hard to solve the stability issues for everyone. Of course, this being a PC game, there are so many variables and factors among the different types of hardware, drivers, and in game code.

Please be patient with us - the majority of players are not experiencing these issues, so it makes it more difficult to figure out the cause.

But you can help...

1. Ensure your computer meets the system requirements.
2. Check if your anti-virus program is blocking insurgency.exe. Give it an exemption, if so.
3. Verify your game by right clicking Insurgency in Steam, Properties, Local Files, Verify integrity of game cache.
4. Disable any background software that may interfere with the game such as Overwolf, Raptr, Xfire, Mumble's overlay or Shadowplay.
5. Disable the Steam overlay for in game.
6. Make sure Windows Update is receiving updates and is patched up.
7. Update the drivers for your graphics card and chipset.
8. Adjust your screen resolution to a lower one than you are trying to use, this may need to be less than native. Alternatively try to set it to the borderless window mode at your native resolution.
9. Try lowering your graphics settings, including those under Advanced Video (effects detail, texture detail, etc).
10. If you are crashing while trying to join a server with Matchmaking, try using the server browser. If you are crashing while trying to use the server browser, try joining with Matchmaking.
11. If you are on a laptop and have hybrid graphics, make sure your laptop is always using your dedicated graphics card when playing Insurgency. You should be able to do this through the Nvidia/AMD control panel.

If you manage to solve the crashing issue with any of the steps above, please post here exactly what worked so others may try.

If your crashing persists, please upload your crash dump file from the directory:

c:/program files/steam/dumps

to our Forum thread, along with the specs of your computer.

We truly want to solve these problems for everyone. It's not fun crashing, as we know from personal experience as well. We are a tiny team by comparison of some other AAA games.

i can run farcry 3 at high settings but not the recent insurgency updates. Lots of frame rate skipping and overall lagging gameplay. Even in tutorial. It's gotten to a point where I'll just re-install at each update to test it. If it crashes, I uninstall it again lol. The methods listed here have never really helped.

I noticed I'm having this issue with Shadow Warrior where It doesn't recognize my Optimus enabled nvidia card..it keeps forcing the intel HD 4000 onboard graphics. There's no way to get it to use the Nvidia, and no way in the nvidia control panel to futz with the shadow warrior options. Is there a possibility that insurgency isn't working well with mobile nvidia cards and optimus technology? I was running fine before the last 3 or 4 insurgency updates.

i had the same issue but its easy to make it use with nvidia just go to nvidia control pannel and browse for your insurgency.exe file under steamapps>insurgency or whatever its called then after adding select High performance nVidia processor everything will work great!

I've resorted to going to the .exe launcher, right clicking, and launching it through the "run with graphics processor" option. I'm unable to actually set it up through the nvidia setting panel..But I can say, no more crashing.

you say its our computers that causing the problems. I and many other crash when grenades explode. Please use the money we pay for the game to some good.

i did the stuff you devs have said to do and it dose not help fix the game people have been posting commets guys when i first bought the game there were no crasg about 6 months later holy sht it crash when i look at one side of the map fix it

Yes, NoFun, it is totally our computers, that is why thousands of people have the same problem and completely different computers.
