When you start a new era, just begin in a new place where you have plenty of space, don't place you new city center near the old town... start over in a new location with lots of new possibilities (as far as your land reach is concerned)...
Its smart to kind of prepare for this during the old era, maybe even post a lookout post in the right direction so you can place your new city center in a comfortable new area. (Wonders can be used too for this to work towards a promissing new city location)
You can rotate buildings too, did you know that.. I forgot what those keys are but I'm sure a forum search will let you know.
The culture building page show you what culture a building belongs to.. focuss on the cultures you want to develop and which buildings that requires to research buy and unlock.
It's smart not to have different culture buildings interconnecting in the same city area... unrest will ensue if you do. So seperate them.
A small thing about the roads, because you can now build on them since the last update https://steamcommunity.com/app/2228280/allnews/
