Trick to using SWAT Snipers?

Can anyone help, I can't seem to shoot anything with the SWAT Snipers and the wolves tear me up in the "Blizzard in Munich" mission...

I setup the sniper, get the sniper reticule, then quick as a flash nothing happens...

I can't get past this mission simply because of this problem.

I think you can not shot anything if it does not attack you first. Use one special policeman (forgot the name, the ones with a simple gun). If wolves charge at you shoot one, the other wolves will fall back andafter some time attack again. Repeat this until all wolves in the pack are dead.

When you right click on the sniper and set him up - he has a limited range which is marked by a gun icon -- if you dont see it on your target in the gun reticule -- your not in range - If you left click on another unit while the sniper mode is on - it will leave that sniper primed and ready to shoot next time you click on them. Its a good idea to lure the wolfs to a set up team - rather than run to the wolfs and set up.

The whole thing seems bloody ridiculous. That mission especially. You are controlling so many men and random wolves keep appearing from nowhere. And if you aren't looking at your swat guys when they get attacked then they just stand there. Surely someon designing the game would have thought about creating some kind of an overwatch mode you could put your guys in so that they would automatically shoot at anything that threatens them. Pathetic!!
