Big things are computer specs (especially video and audio cards) and memory. Make sure you have the latest drivers. If your drivers aren't up-to-date, it will cause probs in the recorder and the editor.
The other thing is is setup of the recorder. Tools Options...
I have mine set as
Warn me,
capture layered windows,
Capture Keyboard Input and
Disable Screensaver During Capture. These are all checked on.
Record to is set to .camrec (not .avi) and the file options are ask for file name.
Make sure you set a Temp Folder.
Under inputs, I set the frame rate to 30 and Video Settings are set to Techsmith Screen Codec2 .
I set the compression to Hightest Quality.
Audio works best with a USB type mic, but I use a regular plug in type. I set the audio settings to PCM 48.000 Khz 16 bit Stereo (187 kb/sec)
Set your hotkeys to gain control so that they don't use the same key presses of another program.
For Record/Pause, I use CTL+Shift+Alt+F9,
to stop recording CTL+Shift+Alt+F10,
for screen marking CTL+Shift+Alt+F8.
So if I want to pause the recording, I press CTL+Shift+Alt+F9 then CTL+Shift+Alt+F9 to continue.
To stop the recording and view the camrec before sending it to the editor, CTL+Shift+Alt+F10.
You can stop the recording and send it to the editor from the pause by pressing the Stop button while in pause mode.
Under the programs tab The only thing that is NOT checked is Hide Preview window after recording is stopped.
I have minimize recorder set to always and I minimize it to the Taskbar.
Whatever. It seems to work. On the other hand, I'm having a whole other set of audio issues now that just popped up the other day and are getting worse. Now my input device in MC6 appears in the preferences, shows no issues, records in Camtasia ok, can be monitored through the system and my I/O interface, and, when in ASIO driver mode (the one I normally use), the ASIO4ALL settings panel shows everything ready, able and willing to play/record. However, on any given track, I am unable to select any input device--it doesn't even show up--except for a couple times in WASAPI driver mode later this evening. In other words, suddenly I can't record anything. Jesus this ♥♥♥♥ is a pain in the ass.
PS: Works fine in Reaper, but in MC6 I'm having a million issues suddenly.
