PS2 Guitar Controller issue
I really, really LOVED this space ship/futuristic Guitar Hero, and the soundtrack is way good too, i've finished this with a PS2 common controller, but, now i want to play it in highest levels, but my guitar isn't working very well...
I'm using a PS2 wirelles Niko Guiter Controller with an USB adapter, already used x360ce, but it didn't work neither, can someone help me?

Hmm... This is a difficult problem to solve. I believe I got it working with every guitar controller available EXCEPT PS2 just because there is no official USB support. The other issue with PS2 guitar controllers is I believe the game recognizes them vs. DualShocks because the left button is held down all the time. That may mess up the controller customization screen. You may be out of luck or may have to come up with a more complicated solution like scripting the inputs to a keyboard with glovepie or something.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful!

Yeah, thats true, when i'm trying to configure it scramble all the inputs, wtih my generic guitar and with my new ghwt guitar controller and when i try to use x360ce it keeps holding the left button to identify as a guitar controller, that's bad, really :/
Anywhay, thanks for the help :D

Well, what you could do is use GlovePie (https://sites.google.com/site/carlkenner/glovepie) to map only specific inputs to keys, and then set it up with keyboard controls. It's a bit of a pain to set up, but then you could map dpad left to nothing, and then it'd ignore that.

I hope this helps!

Would it work with a proper PC guitar controller? I have one that came with World Tour. (a frivolous purchase, ... never worked very well on the PC, because it wasn't stable enough, ... slightest glitches are murder on expert)

if you want to use your ps2 guitar with this game you need to recalibrate the second axis so it wont hold down all the time. go to the hardware and printer tab under windows, right click the usb gamepad icon and select gamepadsettings. there you will find 2 twin usb joysticks, the first one is the acutal guitar, you can configure it and see if everything works. the second one is the "buggy one" thats holding down all the time, highlight the second one and hit settings. now you can calibrate it, just hit next on everything till its done. now you can configure the settings in retro grade. im still using joy2key to do that.

Actually, the usual issue is that the strum bar ends up becoming the axis, and the whammy bar is ignored. This is because the guitar hero ps2 controller defaults to digital mode, and needs to be told to turn into analog mode by the PS2.

The actual PS2 games when ran on real hardware will do this.

The Kramers have a special feature that let you switch mode by up+select+start, but the earlier ones do not cooperate.

Only certain ps2 controller adapters will automatically request analog mode when plugging the controller. VERY few of them.

The best one is, of course, the xbox360 explorer. that one just works on PC.
