Hi guys, I'm one of the devs, and mantainer of the linux/mac versions. Nice to meet you all here!

I've just uploaded a fix for both a launcher crash and the missing ncurses5 problem.
Let's try to be organized, post all your linux&mac related issues here, and we'll do our best to fix them asap.

Have fun!

The OpenGL engine (Linux & Mac) is underperforming, buggy and lacks many features : http://www.championsofregnum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95962

Having an issue in Linux Mint 14 with Gnome Classic DE. I launch the game, sign into the launcher and hit play. I then get what looks like a test pattern then the game crashes. I did get to the initial faction select screen but then crashed out.
@PurpleOwnz and others having problems with textures and animations:

Edit game.cfg in ~/Steam/SteamApps/common/regnum/ and change the value of vg_max_current_shader_model to 0. I tried this and it fixed the issue for me.

The game continues to crash at launch for me as well. Not sure how to fix.

Loads fine here on Mint 13 32 bit Mate edition on an Athlon64 3500+ 8800GTS(G80) 320Mb w/ 2Gb of ram.

It crashed at first, so I re verified the local files, it detected something amiss and downloaded a 3Mb file and since then all is good.

OK I disabled compositing in KDE, now I get the French equivalent to "server not available" (c012 if I remember well)

steam community no working in champions of regnum, toggle fullscreen with 1024x768 resolution freezes the game, have to play at 1366x768 but stays below 30 fps :(

12.04 64bit Xubuntu (E17, without compositing), game appears to launch fine and it works, it defaults to 1024x768, trying to change this is impossible, the game freezes, even trying to switch to windowed mode freezes the client. I'll try playing in this resolution to spot any other issues.

The game crashes when you switch virtual desktops and wait a while. Easily reproducible.
The game has basically crashed before my character is in the world, if I make extensive use of virtual desktop switching. (which I always do, that’s the main benefit of linux for me)

Arch64 and openbox, but I’ve seen this happen on other distros too.

/edit:
http://championsofregnum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93344
./game(_ZN10ClientBase14save_backtraceEv+0x5f) [0x6d74af]
And I’ve literally sent hundreds of reports with the launcher function, just search for virtual desktops, haha.

Oh, lovely, i quit the game, but the process "game" kept running for hours consuming cycles of the single core it uses...
