No really, I know its limited access in free-to-play. So how much is it really? Is it a subscription?

You can play Starter access as much as you want, which gives you access to a lot of stuff already. And with the launch of the console version early 2023, you'll also be getting the advanced kb/m map editor with Starter access.

The other access levels are indeed a subscription, but not in the traditional sense. They do NOT auto-renew. You only pay again if you're still playing and decide it's still worth it to keep your access.

I personally have had Club access since July 2020, when the game released on Ubisoft Connect, and it's been well worth it to be able to use custom skins, quickly spin up club rooms to play with friends, watch record ghosts from the global leaderboard, etc.
