Differences from PS2 version
This is a simple question which has already been asked, but I'm wondering if it's worth buying this when I already have KOF2002 for PS2. Are there any huge differences between the arcade version, PS2 version and this? Is there online multiplayer?

Of course there's online multiplayer. This version however appears to be a XBLA port, so no 3D backgrounds or color edit. It is also a port of the latest arcade version.

+ Based on the arcade version (re-released on PS2 as "Tougeki Edition") for balance.
+ Online play
/ Port is based on the XBLA version.
- No AST
- No colour edit

Didn't think 2002 UM had AST in general.

I don't own the steam version (yet) but the ps2 version had a huge gallery with a ton of poster art, and it looks this one doesn't have that feature at all.

Consider it a barebones version of the game. It has the full roster and standard gameplay modes as well as online... but no special features, color edit, 3D backgrounds, or Neo-Geo mode.

The last struck me as unusual since '98UM Steam included the NG mode to play the original '98... but I don't really care personally since IMO, UM is far superior to the original 2002.

It's the same game, with no changes at all, if that's what you wanna hear. But it's a very good game. If you don't really care about having the PC version stored on a steam cloud, then just don't buy it.

As for the color edit that everyone was speaking about, if that really bothers you, just wait for mods to be released. There will definitly be a pallette color changer mod/app out there.

All arranged soundtracks(AST) in kof games usually sucks ingame.

All that things aside, the netcodes for the PC games have been much better than the console games. That means faster multiplayer.

Same thing wrong with every steam version. No gallery, no filters, no 3d background, missing character, limited modes, etc. etc.
All this > just online play. Many > just 1. Kthxbye.

Ready. Set. Terrible.
Same arguments. Same questions, Still buy. Silly sheeple.

Which missing character?

K9999 is missing. That is also the reason for the lack of the original NEOGEO Mode.

Play as Nameless

As for "missing features," online trumps all of that. That is all.

Nameless = K9999

Good thing I didn't buy! I was disappointed with 98UM. PS2 version is better IMO.
