help for a new player

i need help, i've been playing fighting games all my life but i was always ♥♥♥♥ at them, so i wanted to try to learn how to play one correctly for once.
but for some reason i can't figure out how to do the movements/combos correctly, even in practice. like sometimes i can make them fine but most other times the game doesn't seem to register my inputs and just ends up doing the basic attacks.
is something wrong with my config or am i just slow af?

Kof has more a rythme to the moves and timing then other fighting games, where they will allow you to mash more to do moves... out of curiosity what characters are you trying to use and what moves are trying to perform and also what type of device are you using to play with ?

this is a very good guide for beginners. Also, add me if you want for questions. I am no pro player but i've been playing the game for a long time.
