I still have stutters, but less than before
I have found that the game runs better for me with the pagefiles left at 'system managed'. There's still noticeable hitches and stuttering which the game autosaves during scene transitions but these are significantly better than when I had the pagefiles selected for specific NVMe SSDs (which I did to free up space on other drives). I was literally getting 10 seconds per frame and a slideshow previously.
Now at least the game is playable and runs smoothly about 97% of the time. And since most of it is cutscenes anyway I have found that capping the game to 30 fps is perfectly fine and smooths out the performance even further as I want to prioritise max. graphics settings with max. RT for the most cinematic presentation.
I do think the game has shader compilation stutter though as initially I was experiencing stutters the first time I went through the prologue, which then cleared up when I played through it again (which is the classic sign of this issue). I have added some shader variable tweaks to the game's Engine INI file which I believe are helping reduce the stuttering although it is hard to know for sure.
My suggestion is to NOT enable MFAA in the NVIDIA control panel Global settings for two reasons:
1. I know from personal experience that MFAA can cause issues with some games, causing graphical glitches and even crashes, although this was some years ago and I cannot recall which games were affected.
2. MFAA only works with games that support MSAA anyway, as it effectively 'enhances' the existing anti-aliasing basically making 4X MSAA look like 8X MSAA, which these days is very few (The Casting of Frank Stone certainly doesn't) so there is no point in enabling it globally anyway.
This game has random stutters. There are stutters even in the same room where nothing happens, just walking around.:( Much worse than WuKong
I shamefully switched to TSR and now my cutscenes no longer slowdown or freeze, and the games runs way better. This is on a 4070 Ti S
